Daniel was the only 250 International entrant from South Australia, although we had
a couple of 125cc GB blokes from SA to keep us company. We arrived on Friday night and so
missed all of the Practice sessions run on Friday. Our action therefore started on Saturday, but a
battery lead came of as Daniel entered the track for the first Qualifier so he missed that session as well.
So he only did the last qualifier and fortunately all went well and for his first effort at Creek he
qualified 14th on the grid. He had a good start in the first race and climbed positions with every lap
finishing 8th overall, running 1.35’s – not bad for his first race at the Creek. On Sunday and in
the 2nd race (which had a restart after the grid was held for a long time) saw Daniel go into Turn 2
too hot and leave the track whilst running in 8th spot and rejoining in 20th. He drove well to regain
8 positions and finish 12th, just missing out on 11th outright by a smidgen on the line. Race 3 was
better and he again managed to drive around a few to finish 8th overall. His lap times were consistent
and around the 1:35 / 1:36 laps. We had a great weekend at a well organised event and well looked
after by the New South Wales Superkart fraternity. Daniel finished each heat with only the one off
and driving amongst a very experienced field.
