Formula Ford Debut for Daniel. |
Daniel will race a 2001 Van Diemen in the South Australian State Motor Racing
Championships commencing on 12 April 2008. Daniel joined his new team on Saturday 5 April for his first
full practice day in a Formula Ford at Mallala Motor Sport Park to get used to the characteristics of
the car and to learn to drive to suit. Whereas he recorded a best time of 1:16, he realised quickly that
driving a Formula Ford is very different from his 250cc International Superkart with its aero down force.
Another practice day has been organised for 11 April 2008 to help him overcome the different driving
style so as to stay on the black stuff during the racing on 12 April 2008.

Daniel's Formula Ford test deferred. |
Due to bereavement in the family, Daniel's test drive in a Formula Ford
scheduled for 11 January was cancelled. The test drive will now be rescheduled. In the meantime his 250 CC
Inter will be prepared for the Adelaide Superkart Club's opening race meeting to be held on 10 February. |

Australian Superkart Grand Prix - 20 November 2005, Mallala |
With Daniel having turned 16 years of age this was his first race meeting as a senior. Having to run in his new senior engine on the day meant a low qualifying spot however the first heat saw Daniel finishing a credible 6th outright from starting in 17th spot. Daniel also turned in his fastest lap time ever with a 1:21:2598. Heat 2 and a spin meant a 13th spot whilst Heat 3 and Heat 4 resulted in 6th placings.

1st MAX Junior Class - SA Youth Championships Round 3 and Superkart Cup Round 4 - 23 October 2005, Mallala
The final round of the Youth Championships was affected by extremely strong and blustery winds and a heavy downpour during Heat 2. An unfortunate incident during practice caused some major damage to Daniel's kart. With a lot of help from fellow competitors and the loan of a spare front crash bar and nose cone and a lot of gaffa tape saw Daniel return to the track for qualifying. A spin during heat 1 resulted in a bent axle and a DNF. However, Daniel returned to win the remaining heats and come out on top for the day."

1st MAX Junior Class - SA Youth Championships Round 2 and Superkart Cup Round 3 - 04 September 2005, Mallala
Father's day turned on some excellent weather and great racing. Again, only two Juniors turned up to race but both turned in good times. Daniel produced his best ever time of 1:22,27 and best speed of 138.5 Kph (with the exhaust restrictor still in place!). His driving was good enough to put him in front of some of the slower seniors."

"A field of 23 MAXs ran in non-gearbox while 7 karts made up the combined 80cc/125cc/250cc gearbox category. Run in dry sunny conditions, two practice sessions were followed by 5 heats of 7 laps, all heats counting. Juniors are still thin in numbers with Daniel taking out all but one of the heats and achieving good outright positions including a 14th outright."
Victorian Youth Championships Round 1 - 18 June 2005, Phillip Island

South Australian Superkart Cup Round 1 - 24 April 2005.
"Daniel was one of only two juniors racing but his driving was top class all day with an outright 10th placing in one of the heats a good result. Strong blustery Northerlies again affected everyone's times but a late day change with cooler weather and a drop in wind brought some good numbers with Daniel running in the 1:24's (with the exhaust restrictor plate)."
Australian Motor Racing Series - 16/17 April 2005.
"Daniel's driving was top class. Strong Northerlies kept the times down and as the only Junior racing only had to contend with the bottom end of the senior ranks. However it provided good experience to be involved with a National level event."
Adelaide Superkart Club meeting - 20 February 2005.

"An unfortunate accident during practice didn't give Daniel the best of starts for the day. He missed race 1 still rebuilding the Kart, had a good outcome in Race 2, recorded a DNF in Race 3, missed race 4 but reappeared with a good result in race 5. This meeting also saw the fitting of the exhaust outlet restrictor to meet the 2005 regulations for Juniors with a resultant drop in lap times."
